BMS Distribution ERP

Modern web ERP for distributors and wholesalers — multi-warehouse inventory, sales, purchasing, payments and reporting. Late Beta v1.0.

Web ERP for DistributionWebLate beta

Overview

  • Focused on distribution workflows: receipt, transfer, reservation and dispatch tied to commercial documents.
  • Browser-based so managers and warehouse supervisors share one operational view across locations.
  • Late Beta v1.0 means the module set is stable and under hardening — not a claim of universal production deployment.
  • Architecture supports role-based access and auditable stock movement.

Business context

Wholesale and distribution businesses need one shared view of stock, documents and money across warehouses and branches. Spreadsheets and disconnected tools break as soon as more than one site must answer the same question.

Problem

Head office could not see location-level stock without calling each site. Invoices and purchases drifted from physical movement, and reorder decisions depended on stale exports instead of live thresholds.

Intended users

  • Wholesale and distribution owners
  • Warehouse supervisors and inventory clerks
  • Sales and purchasing teams
  • Finance staff reviewing receivables and payables

Core capabilities

Warehouse operations

Receiving, picking support, transfers and adjustments with reason codes and movement history.

Commercial document flows

Sales and purchase cycles linked to stock reservations, postings and party balances.

Management reporting

Stock, sales and treasury snapshots for daily operating decisions across locations.

Main modules

  • Product and unit master
  • Multi-warehouse inventory
  • Sales documents
  • Purchase documents
  • Customer and supplier accounts
  • Payments and operational reports

Technology stack

ASP.NET Core 8 · Next.js 15 · SQL Server · Docker

Architecture summary

  • ASP.NET Core 8 API with application and domain layers
  • SQL Server as system of record with indexed movement tables
  • Next.js 15 frontend for bilingual operational screens
  • JWT authentication with role and permission policies
  • Docker Compose friendly staging and migration-driven schema updates

Security considerations

  • JWT authentication with role and permission policies
  • Business data scoped by organization identifier
  • Audit trails on stock and document mutations
  • Server-side validation on all write operations
  • Security headers and environment-separated secrets

Current phase

BMS Distribution ERP is an EH DESIGN product in Late Beta v1.0. Core inventory, sales, purchasing and payment modules are implemented and under hardening. No client deployment or commercial results are claimed.

Scope boundaries

  • Not marketed as an off-the-shelf package for every industry
  • Statutory accounting modules are out of scope unless agreed
  • Hardware integrations scoped per deployment
  • Late beta — remaining work is hardening, documentation and staged rollout

Remaining work

  • Hardening edge cases in multi-warehouse transfers
  • Operator documentation and staging runbooks
  • Performance passes on large catalogue and movement volumes
  • Staged acceptance before any production cutover

Main workflows

Receive and put away

Register inbound goods against a purchase document, assign warehouse locations and update available quantities.

Sell and reserve

Create a sales document with location-aware availability, reserve stock and prepare dispatch.

Transfer between warehouses

Issue and receive inter-warehouse transfers with a clear in-transit state and complete movement trail.

Collect and report

Record payments against open balances and review stock, sales and treasury reports for the day.

Technical decisions

Web platform for multi-site visibility

Distributors need one shared operational view. A browser client over a central API fits multi-warehouse supervision better than isolated desktop installs.

Documents drive inventory

Reservations and postings originate from commercial documents so stock never becomes an editable island.

API ownership of rules

Business validation and authorization live in the API so every client path enforces the same constraints.

Docker for staging parity

Compose-based staging reduces “works on my machine” drift during late-beta hardening.

Testing approach

  • Unit tests for reservation, posting and balance rules
  • API integration tests for sales, purchase and transfer paths
  • Permission denial checks for restricted stock actions
  • Manual warehouse scenario passes across multi-location data
  • Report reconciliation against movement and document tables
